Solar Blacksmith Blower

A high efficient, durable powerful air blower running on solar energy with a speed controller for easy flame/ temperature control, used in rural areas of India by blacksmiths and silversmiths.

This simple solution allowed for a transformational change in the way blacksmiths have been operating for the past 100 years with the traditional air blowing systems.

Site Visits

Had travelled to multiple locations in rural parts of India to understand the world of blacksmith and the tools of the craft. Most of the traditional systems used took up a lot of space and was time and labor consuming. An intervention was waiting to be made in the domain.

Different Size furnace and application of blowers

In further study it was revealed that the small scale blacksmiths needed smaller capacity blowers where as the silversmiths needed heavy duty blowers. So different capacity of blowers were developed to suit different applications keeping the overall cost of the whole system low. All the systems were developed run in Solar energy and so DC blowers were designed.

30W Portable Blower

There was a need for a portable blower from the field that needed to be operated in solar energy or battery by the migrating blacksmiths. This fan was again sourced from Sensoheat with the specifications and designs given from our side. The fan was then fitted to a very compact funnel body with a handle and a large base. Care was taken to make sure it was easily assembled and disassembled as well as light in weight for easy transportation.

60W Silversmith Blower

Silversmiths usually used a high temperature furnace to melt the silver bars and their air flow requirement to sustain the fire for such temperatures ware very high. Also the fire had to be sustained for a longer duration of time. These factors required us to go for a higher capacity, high durable, heavy duty blower design. All the parts were made of metal with a strong and sturdy funnel system specifically made to the furnace requirement. This system can be directly attached to the mouth of the furnace and later replaced the 55W blower.
